We do not expect any of our tutors to have any prior experience in tutoring, only a willingness to learn.
Tutor Progression
Tutors can move up 'levels' according to experience. This transparent system offers a route for tutors to advertise at higher rates, while feeling fully supported along the way.
Free Training
From the very beginning, we offer training sessions from qualified teachers. As such, you will constantly improve your teaching, and never feel unsure what to do.
Full Support
Our team is always available with resources and support, 24/7.
We want you to be free to focus all your attention on your teaching and professional development.
As such, you will never worry about parents, never worry whether you are doing the right thing, and never worry about organising your own calendar. We manage all of that for you and more.
All of our tutors are self-employed, and as such have final say over the content they deliver, and when, where, and how they deliver it.
We will review a tutor's interests and experiences, to fit them with the right course and student. We often create and advertise entirely new courses, tailored to the tutor's passion!
Please note: we are currently only accepting applications from Oxbridge offer-holders.
We do not require a teaching demonstration at this stage, but instead ask the candidate to talk about a topic they are passionate about. The interview lasts no more than 15 minutes: it is mostly a chance for us to answer your questions.
As part of our initial assessment, we offer one to three training lessons, in which tutors teach for 30 minutes, and receive 30 minutes of feedback from a qualified teacher. Passing this stage is contingent on incorporating the feedback into the next training lesson. We never expect perfection, only an interest in improving!
Once you have passed the initial assessment, you will become a Level One Tutor, and your teaching journey will have begun. The training and support does not end here, but is always available to tutors.

Starting rates are evaluated according to the tutor's educational status (undergraduate or graduate) and experience/qualifications.
The tutor's initial advertised rate is then agreed at interview.
+ Tutors are able to apply a monthly 10% surcharge to their invoice, subject to performance and client discretion. Tutors who have responded to training goals have received this every month without exception.
+ Subject to performance, tutors may be accelerated up the levels (and advertise at higher rates) at a faster pace.
While every tutor must confirm whether they have or have not completed a basic DBS check, possessing one is not a requirement for working with us.
Tutors invoice Lucid Learner at the end of every month, and we then invoice clients on their behalf. Payment is processed within five working days.
Support is offered with the invoicing process, and we always ensure tutors receive their pay promptly.
The tutor is responsible for payment of their own income tax and NICs on their earnings.
In the event of a client cancelling within 48 hours before a lesson, and the tutor is unable or unwilling to rearrange, the lesson is charged in full.
All of our lessons are online, and 1:1.
